Should people be proud to be an American?

Of course they should be proud. Since they are living in America they should always feel like they are an American. If you were an Illegal immigrant then once you become legal in America, then you should be proud to be an American. If people weren't an American then I would understand, but other then that I don't see why people have a problem with being an American. If you dislike being an American then I would ask why. So that's why I think they should be proud to be an American. They should also still believe in their culture. Even if they are proud of being an American you should always recognize your roots.
